The sale topping bull was lot 21, Glenoch-JK Minister M640, offered by Justin and Kate Boshammer, JK Cattle Company, Condamine.
Greg Peck, Purtora, Blackall was the satisfied repeat buyer who secured Minister, along with another two bulls on the day. He has been impressed with the forage ability of the Sandon

Glenoch Angus bulls, which have worked well in his environment. The Angus premium and market flexibility are also important factors behind his breeding decisions.
Minister was sired by a homebred son of LT Driven in Glenoch Kembla K305, and was bred from one of the herd’s best cows, Glenoch-JK Ann C102. C102 boasts fertility data of nine calves for an average calving interval of 364 days, and featured in the pedigree of another four bulls in the sale. She is also the great grand-dam of lot 19, Glenoch-JK Makahu M602, who was withdrawn after being sold prior to the sale for $25,000 to Glatz’s Black Angus, Avenue Range, South Australia.
Selling for a close second top price of $16,000 was lot 58, Glenoch Maximerge M499 (AI), a deep-bodied son of MAR Innovation 251. The sale draft featured the stud’s first sons of Texas Mount K2, who sold for $45,000 in 2015, when Roger Boshammer purchased a quarter share in the sire. K2 is a trait leader for six EBVs, and his group of 44 sons sold to average slightly higher than the sale average at $9943.
Many local families were operating at the sale, and buyers represented a wide range of environments across Queensland.
The Boshammer family expressed their gratitude for the success of the sale and the strong support shown by buyers, and more importantly, hoped that the bulls would deliver on expectations and add great value to their clients’ businesses.
A moment’s silence was held in memory of Jack Atkin, who established the Sandon stud in 1969. Jack passed away at age 92 just a fortnight before the bull sale, and was approaching his 50 year membership with Angus Australia in 2019.

Sandon Glenoch Angus average a record $8457
By PETER LOWE, Queensland Country Life 16/08/16
THE Boshammer families celebrated their 25th anniversary fixture in the best possible way after posting a record $8457 average at their annual Sandon Glenoch Angus bull sale, Glenoch, Chinchilla, last Wednesday.
Auctioneer Michael Glasser, Total Sales Management, sold the entire run of 112 bulls which included 104 Angus and eight Brangus in a tick under two hours in a phenomenal effort underpinned by insatiable demand.
To put this year’s sale result into perspective – last time they sold 97 Angus bulls for a $4892 average, which represents a massive jump of $3565 on the mean. In addition, Justin and Kate Boshammer under their Glenoch JK prefix sold eight Brangus bulls for a $7063 average, which was also up a whopping $3420 on last year. It was also a total sell out of this year’s catalogue.
Glenoch co-principal Justin Boshammer said this year’s sale draft weighed an average of just over 700kg, which gave buyers a true picture of their bulls.
“It’s an old cliché but what they saw is what they got, with buyers fully appreciating the fact they were sensibly prepared cattle which will improve their longevity,” Justin said.
Leading New England district seed stock producer Lock Rogers, Wattletop Angus, Guyra, NSW wanted new genetics and carcase performance when he bid the $20,000 top money for Glenoch Kalli K115 (AI), a first-crop son of Ayrvale General G18 with tremendous capacity and structural correctness.
Mr Rogers said he liked Kalli’s maturity pattern and his blend of EBV data which features excellent growth, marbling and eye muscle figures.
“In addition I wanted a true calving ease bull,” Mr Rogers said.
Regular supporter Kevin Graham, Kevin Graham Consulting, Brisbane, who was buying on behalf of Alistair and Joanne McClymont, AJM Pastoral, Richmond, bid the $18,000 next best money for Glenoch Kaiser K339 (AI) which was one of the first sons of American import in LT Driven 9087.
Mr Graham also paid $12,000 for another son of LT Driven and $11,000 for Glenoch-JK King Kong K637 for the McClymont’s composite bull breeding unit at Burleigh Station.
“We select for strong fertility traits from proven female lines combined with carcase performance and temperament,” Mr Graham said.
Justin and Kate Boshammer also added to their sire battery after paying $17,000 for Glenoch Kallangur K112 (AI), a powerful son of proven sire in Ardrossan Equator A241, and from the well established Glenoch Flower female line.
Justin said K112 was very similar to his sire, but with added softness. He said he was the type of bull that will excel even further when value based marketing technologies improve, and producers are paid on both carcase yield and quality.
Mark Scholes, Landmark, Rockhampton was a dominant buying force accounting for 20 bulls for a $7225 average for the Paraway Pastoral Company’s Brahman-infused herd on Rocklands Station at Camooweal on the Barkly Tablelands.
Long-term clients and successful carcase competitors Bill, Sue and Ed Willis, Bullamon Plains Pastoral, Thallon bought 10 quality bulls for a $8500 average with good, all round performance data.

Emerald chases Angus
By SHARON HOWARD, Queensland Country Life 06/11/14

“We’ve got plenty more at home and we probably should have bought them,” stud spokesman, Justin Boshammer said after the sale.
The sale consisted of 47 Sandon Glenoch Angus bulls originating from Chinchilla.
The sale topped at $7000 four times.

Sandon Glenoch Angus bulls top at $12,000
By PETER LOWE, Queensland Country Life 21/08/14
POSITIVE pre-sale buyer comments about the ideal presentation of the draft and the Boshammer family’s ability to put forward their best and heaviest line-up were key drivers behind their successful annual Sandon Glenoch Angus bull sale, Glenoch, Chinchilla last Wednesday.
The Boshammer family’s 23rd on-property fixture posted a solid result after 116 bulls averaged $4010 despite the challenges faced by many beef producers.
Typical of the long term clients was Kevin Graham who operated through Landmark Rockhampton on behalf of Alistair and Jo McClymont, AJM Pastoral, Burleigh Station, Richmond because he recognises the exceptional doing ability of the Sandon and Glenoch bulls.
“These bulls do handle the tough going and have a strong constitution and will work,” he said.
In addition, Mr Graham was selecting low gestation length (GL) and high fertility bulls and paid up to $7000 for Glenoch Hamilton H238, a quality son of Ardrossan Equator A241 which recorded -4.2 for GL and +3.4 for scrotal size and averaged $4666 for his three bulls.
The Boshammers tagged their sale as ‘Bulls That Work’ and according to the buyers in attendance they deliver on that front.
Glenoch Hampton H256, a moderate framed son of A241 showing plenty of capacity and muscle attracted the $12,000 top money from Patrick and Melody Rynne, Jilliby, Tara. G Hampton offered great flexibility being breed average or better for every EBV trait and was the complete package.
The Rynnes also bought another A241 son, Glenoch Havilah H370, with a well-balanced set of figures for $6500.
Leading carcase competition exponents Bill, Sue and Ed Willis, Bullamon Plains Pastoral, Thallon outlaid $10,000 for the first bull into the ring, Glenoch Harlin H304, another A241 son with impressive growth figures and a powerful hind quarter.

Sandon Glenoch Angus bulls to record $18,000
By PETER LOWE, Queensland Country Life 21/08/13
A RECORD on-property price of $18,000 and a 25pc increase in the number of bulls sold were highlights of the annual Sandon Glenoch Angus bull sale, Glenoch, Chinchilla last week.
Considering the fickle nature of the current bull selling season which has experienced mixed results, the Boshammer and Atkin families ‘Bulls that Work’ sale posted a remarkable result and delivered fellow stud masters a welcomed confidence boost as they prepare for their annual Spring sales.
Whilst many beef producers are struggling with a subdued cattle market and the prospect of a dry Spring, there was no lack of confidence from buyers at the Sandon/Glenoch sale as 24 more bulls found new homes this year.
Marketing agents Ray White Livestock and Glasser Total Sales Management sold 122 Angus bulls for a $5487 average on the back of strong competition from new and repeat, stud and commercial buyers.
Ray White Livestock auctioneer James Croft, Dalby in his first real hit out of the season said it was one of the best sale results for his vendors and confirmed the excellent reputation of the Sandon and Glenoch cattle in the market place.
“Our sales management formula certainly worked very well for the Boshammer and Atkin families and proved a very successful method of selling seed stock,” said Mr Croft.
Leading interstate stud masters Fred and Janet Bell, Glenavon Angus, Outer Bald Blair, Guyra bid the $18,000 record money to secure Glenoch Galaxy G55, a high performance two-year-old son of Dunoon Reagan.
Glenoch principal Roger Boshammer considered Glenoch Galaxy the best bull in the draft and said he was hard to fault and a very complete, genuine sire prospect.
“He has an excellent outcross pedigree with performance to match across all traits,” Mr Boshammer said.
Several leading beef cattle enterprises were active including John Campbell, Barramornie, Condamine who operated on the top end of the market after buying a pair of quality youngsters by Tuwharetoa Regent D145 at $12,000 each. His first was Glenoch Gogango G375 a moderate framed bull with high ranking carcase EBVs and Glenoch Garland G131, a longer bodied bull which was structurally correct – Glenoch retained semen in both bulls for in-herd use. Mr Campbell bought five bulls for a $8200 average.
Leading seed stock consultant Kevin Graham, Stafford Stock and Property, Richmond bought three excellent prospects for a $7333 average for his long-term clients Alister and Jo McClymont, AJM Pastoral, Burleigh Station, Richmond.
Mr Graham paid up to $8000 for Glenoch-JK Gaunlet G604, a soft, easy- doing son of Ardrossan Admiral A2 with plenty of muscle expression. All three bulls are destined for the McClymont’s composite bull breeding program which incorporates Angus, Charolais, Senepol and Brahman genetics.
Central Highlands commercial operator Bruce Mayne, Bandana, Rolleston bought four quality bulls for a $8000 average including a well-balanced son of Tuwharetoa Regent D145 at $10,500.
Eric Simon, Simon Cattle Company, Jimarndy, May Downs bought a half-a-dozen herd improvers at $6250 which included the home-bred bull, Glenoch Gigolo G215 at $8000.
The biggest order of the day came from Alex Walsh, general manager south, Consolidated Pastoral Company Pty Ltd, Isis Downs, Isisford who wanted replacement bulls for their Brahman herd on Newcastle Waters in the west Barkly region of Northern Territory. Mr Walsh bought 20 bulls for a $3775 average and selected bulls that would “walk out and travel”.

Sandon Glenoch Angus bulls to $15,000
By PETER LOWE, Queensland Country Life 23/08/12
THE annual Sandon Glenoch Angus bull sale, Glenoch, Chinchilla last Wednesday may not have reached the record levels of last year, but the overall sale average of a tick over $6000 is right where Glenoch co-principal Roger Boshammer wants his sale placed.
Hosted by the Boshammer family of Glenoch Angus and Jack Atkin, Sandon Angus and billed as the ‘Bulls that Work’ sale featured strong demand from new and repeat buyers chasing bulls that will improve the bottom line of their beef producing enterprises.
“It was a great result in terms of our average and clearance and makes our sale very affordable,” said Roger Boshammer.
The sale was marketed exclusively through the Elders Stud Stock division and saw 98 Angus bulls average $6122, selling to $15,000 twice and eight Brangus bulls offered by Justin and Kate Boshammer of Glenoch JK stud average $4563 for a top of $8500 for a total clearance.
Elders auctioneer Andrew Meara of Toowoomba said the sale represented excellent value for money and the fact more bulls were offered and sold gave price conscious buyers a chance to operate.
Leading seed stock specialist Kevin Graham, Stafford Stock and Property, Richmond bought both $15,000 top selling bulls on behalf of his clients Alister and Jo McClymont, AJM Pastoral, Burleigh Station, Richmond.
The first was for Jack Atkin’s entry, Sandon Equator F7, a well-fleshed, easy-doing son of Ardrossan Equator A241 with a plus 2.2 for scrotal circumference which measured 39cms. Sandon Equator is from a proven female background which traces back to Sandon Perfection U22.
Mr Graham’s next $15,000 acquisition for the McClymonts was Glenoch Fact F078, a high performance son of Te Mania Infinity 04 which again was out of an exceptional female in Glenoch Flower B91. She has a good calving history and a 354 ACI.
Glenoch Fact was described by Mr Graham as a good, soft bull with plenty of doing ability.
Both high selling bulls had impeccable temperament according to Mr Graham.
The McClymonts are long-standing clients and will use both bulls in their composite bull breeding program which incorporates Angus, Charolais, Senepol and Brahman genetics. Their program produces replacement bulls for their vast northern holdings.
“We are impressed with the way the Sandon and Glenoch bulls handle the tougher northern conditions and the McClymonts want to have more market options for their cattle and believe Angus will deliver,” said Mr Graham.
Mr Graham was also acting on behalf of Rodger and Lorena Jefferis, Elrose Enterprises Pty Ltd, Elrose, Cloncurry and bought Glenoch Fizz F231, another quality son of Te Mania Infinity 04 with well balanced EBV figures. The Jefferis family intend to use the bull over selected high grade Brahman cows.
The Jefferis family also secured a quality son of Ardrossan Equator A241 at $6500 through Stafford Stock and Property.
Other return clients included Bill and Sue Willis and family, Bullamon Plains, Thallon were chasing carcase performance when they bought Glenoch First Base F111, another Infinity son with excellent growth, fertility, carcase weight and marbling data at $11,000.
Another Infinity son, Glenoch Faze F095, with a good balance of muscle and softness was knocked down to the Willis family at $6500.
Graeme and Jenny Acton, Acton Land and Cattle Company, Paradise Lagoons, Rockhampton were one of the volume buyers securing eight bulls for a $6563 average.
The $8500 Brangus bull, Glenoch JK Foreman F504, a powerful son of Glenoch JK Doomadgie D501 was bought by the Duff family, Wetelma, Jandowae.

Sandon Glenoch Angus bulls average $7014
By PETER LOWE, Queensland Country Life 25/08/11
A MASSIVE influx of commercial beef producers from central and northern Queensland drove demand for performance orientated Angus bulls to a record $7014 average at the Boshammer family and Jack Atkin’s Sandon Glenoch sale, Glenoch, Chinchilla, last Wednesday.
In a resounding vote of confidence in the Boshammer family’s current breeding direction which places emphasis on improving the commercial producers’ profitability and combined with the overall resurgence of the Angus breed bolstered demand for the 77 bulls which averaged $6961.
Elders auctioneer Andrew Meara, Toowoomba described the market as “white hot” with exceptionally strong competition on the entire draft which was sold out in under two hours.
Included in the catalogue were four Brangus bulls offered by Justin and Kate Boshammer, Glenoch-JK which averaged $6000 and sold to a top of $9000 for Glenoch JK Equity E513 which was bought by the Stumm family of Goomeri. The massive turnaround in the sale’s fortunes – Angus average up $2847 on last year – was attributed to the overall lift in the performance of the herd in terms of growth, carcase and marbling attributes and the improvements in the fertility data of the dams according to co- principal Justin Boshammer.
“This year’s sale bulls were generally better prepared and grown to a joining weight and not a finishing weight and we believe our bulls are becoming more relevant in terms of improving the bottom line for our clients,” Mr Boshammer said.
Arguably their most loyal clients Donald and Liz Cossart, Dilbong Pastoral Company, Dilbong, Tara who have been buying bulls from the Boshammer family for over 26 years, bid the $12,000 top money for Glenoch Ethan E142 (AI).
Glenoch Ethan E142, a high performing son of American import KCF Bennett Performer with tremendous width, depth and length-of-body and is out of Glenoch Flower Y161 which comes from one of the Boshammer’s most successful female lines in the Flower family.
Mr Cossart said G Ethan was an impressive individual with the right performance and pedigree and would complement his pure Angus commercial operation. Kevin Graham, Stafford Livestock and Property, Richmond was buying on behalf of Terry and Helen Griffiths, Windy Ridge, Hivesville who accounted for four bulls for a $7625 average paying up to $8500 for Glenoch Ewan E149, a low birth weight, highly fertile son of Karoo Hingai A82.
Mr Graham said it will be the first time the Griffiths family have introduced Angus over their Droughtmaster/Charolais cross maidens and was selecting bulls with good bone and muscling and suitable for heifers and felt the Boshammers’ bulls were not overdone and right to go to work.
Mr Graham also paid $10,000 for Glenoch Elton E101, a well balanced son of Lawsons Dinky-Di Z191 with excellent EBVs and a Long Fed index of plus $120 for his clients Alister and Jo McClymont, AJM Pastoral, Burleigh Station, Richmond.
The McClymonts are return buyers for many years and selected G Elton to use in their composite bull breeding program which incorporates Angus, Senepol, Charolais and Brahman genetics.
“We are impressed with the way the Sandon Glenoch bulls handle the tougher northern conditions and the McClymonts want to have more market options for cattle which they believe Angus will deliver,” said Mr Graham.
Bill and Sue Willis and family, Bullamon Plains, Thallon on their return trip from the Brisbane Ekka after exhibiting the champion carcase in the 100-day grainfed performance class for their first entry in the RNA Paddock to Palate competition with their purebred Angus entry paid $10,000 for Glenoch Elezar E90, a large framed son of LT Bando 9074 with superior carcase data.
Several other bulls attracted $10,000 bids including Glenoch Ellis E99 which was bought by the Nogoa Pastoral Company, Duckponds, Emerald and John Purcell, Yatton, Marlborough who secured the moderate framed Sandon Alabama E28 with a similar money bid and took home three quality herd improvers for a $8500 average.
The McNamara family, Ringwood Park, Tara also paid $10,000 for Sandon Endurance E2, a quality son of Sandon Endurance U31 with great length and width of spine and the Cameron family, Cunno, Augathella paying up to $10,000 for Glenoch Emblaze E294 and accounting for a total of five bulls for a $7200 average.
Central Queensland based David and Julie McCamley, Palmalmal, Dingo were also operating on the quality end and selected a quality pair of bulls at $9000 each. One of the biggest orders came from T V Fairfax who bought eight bulls for a $6750 average for their Blackall district holding Evora and Albro Station at Clermont.
